HBA Students achieve top predicted marks for university admissions

HBA’s current students have exceeded expectations with their grades and we are extremely proud of their hard work and determination. We work with students to improve their grades and create university applications that will get them into their desired universities.

What are predicted grades and how important are they?

Towards the end of the first term of the second year of A Level or IB (year 13/grade 12), teachers will predict students’ grades based on their academic performance so far. These predicted grades will be used by students to apply for university, so it is extremely important to receive the best grades possible.

The predicted grades will be based on test results, internal assessment, school performance, behaviour and homework. Therefore, students need to have the right attitude for study from the beginning of the first year of sixth form (year 12/grade 11).

Top universities in the UK will also request certain predicted grades as part of their entry requirements. For example, if you want to study Business Studies at King’s College London, you need a minimum of 35 points in IB predicted grades or 7/6/6 in Higher Level (HL) subject grades

How does HBA support students with their predicted grades?

One of our students started his A Level year half a term late with grades C/C/D but had aspirations to study law at London School of Economics (LSE). We worked together with the student to improve these grades and now he has predicted grades A*/A/A which means he has the grades needed for a successful application to study Law at LSE.

We supported another student who has a passion for music but also dreamed of studying science at University College London (UCL). He is now a top 10 artist on Spotify in the UK and US and has the grades needed to succeed at his chosen university. The HBA team supported him with how to manage his academic studies alongside his extracurricular commitments through coaching and tutoring. In addition, he took part in our ‘School Holiday Revision Camp’ which is held at our Istanbul office during the school holidays.

Our revision camps run from 10am - 5pm and consist of tutoring, supervised revision, and mock tests to prepare students for exams. Each student has their own private room for study and tutors are on hand to support them with questions. For students based outside of Istanbul, we have created ‘virtual camps’ where we design revision timetables and support students throughout their study online. Another student who attended our summer revision camp had been predicted Ds and we helped them to achieve Bs in their predicted grades and then finally As in their actual exams. This demonstrates how students can unlock their potential with the right support.

In conclusion, sixth form predicted grades are the first checkpoint in the university application process and good grades are essential for acceptance into the world’s top universities. This means students need to be working hard from the beginning of sixth form and should be aware of predicted grade requirements at their desired universities. As HBA, we are proud of the consistent hard work our students put in to achieve their academic dreams.
